Adopted Son

Hello my amazing people! This week was really wild, let me tell ya. Earlier this week we got a reference of someone who wanted to learn more about the Book of Mormon, but he lives a little over an hour and a half from here. God has blessed us with technology in the past couple years as missionaries so we sent him a text and he immediately started answering back talking about baptism. He set up a lesson with us for Saturday morning and he asked if we could set a date to be baptized and if we could mark it that day! He said he knew he needed to and he knew he would be baptized into our church and he was so excited! We sent him a video talking about the Book of Mormon and invited him to read it and within 15 minutes he sent a text that said "My brothers I'm loving this book! I know that it's another testament of Jesus Christ!!" It was so amazing to see his testimony already start to grow. The lesson on Saturday morning ended up falling through and he hasn't answered ...

Broken Elbow

Hello everyone! Sorry, i didn't wrote last week, my editor and secretary took a paid vacation to Hawaii and didn't tell me. This week we had transfers, and I was so excited because President told me I was going to train! He said my companion was from Argentina but that's all we knew. Well, turns out Elder Cuevas already has 8 months on the mission, so I'm not training but I am teaching Portuguese! His first day here in Brazil we were on our way to the supermarket to get some things so we could lunch, and he hit the front brakes too hard (they're really sensitive) and he flipped right over the front and dislocated his elbow. We ran to the clinic and I had to use my very very limited Spanish to translate and help him understand what they were saying (thanks Sr. Macdon) and we were moved from the clinic to the hospital where they relocated it and put him in a soft cast.  He's doing better now but, he's still in a lot of pain so pray for him!  The doctors kept h...

Hello everyone! This week was pretty good!  On Thursday we didn't have any lessons go through and nothing marked so we ended up contacting a little over a hundred people which was tiring, but on Friday and Saturday we had almost 10 lessons! On Saturday we biked up the mountain to that one family I talked about a couple weeks ago that we found through our contacts and it was so good! We talked about the gospel of Jesus christ (faith, repentance, baptism, holy ghost, and preserve to the end) and when we talked about baptism they told us they would love to be baptized! The small problem is they can't can't go to church because they live in a rough neighborhood, so every time they leave the house they get robbed.. so someone always has to stay home. But they're so cool! We are also teaching a lady and her boyfriend and her 3 kids which is going well! She says she always visited other churches but hasn't been baptized because she doesn't want to take something from G...

HELLO MY AMAZING PEOPLE!!  So, it's been a couple weeks since I've written... sorry about that. But honestly, you're all probably used to it by now because I'm terrible at emails..  This past couple weeks was ridiculously hot and very busy! Our area here is massive and we have bikes. We also live on the 4th floor of this building (68 steps) and we don't have an elevator so basically it's never ending leg day here. But, the people are good! We are seeing so many miracles and so many people are ready to progress! My job is to figure out how to show them the path. Our branch is pretty small... we usually have around 35-40 people at church but it's good because when we bring new people with us EVERYONE goes and says hi and introduces themselves! One miracle we saw was as we were contacting some of the investigators. We texted one lady and she was so excited we texted her! We set up an in person lesson (which is a miracle that she lived close enough) and when we ...

Transfered! FINALLY

Hello everyone! Today was transfers and after 9 months I've finally left Caiuá! My new area is huge! We cover 1/4 of the mission and it's all pretty spread out so I'm excited to get to see more of Brazil. My last week in Caiuá was fun! It was Ivonne's birthday so we got to go to a Venezuelan party and it felt like i was there! Elder Chalaberry and I were the only ones who spoke Portuguese better than Spanish so they just spoke Spanish and I actually didn't do too bad... I think. They sang the birthday song in Spanish which is lively, then we sang it in Portuguese, which is also lively, then they wanted just me to sing it in English.  It’s a boring song in English. We sing too slow. My new area is called União da Vitória and I'm on the very, very bottom edge of the state of Paraná and this city is on the border of the states. There's a lot of stuff to do here, and lots of people who are interested in learning more and talking to us so I'm excited to get t...
