Bem Vindos Ao CTM

Well! It's not quite a week, but I made it to my first P-Day!

The MTC is a very unique experience, let me tell ya. I was not sure how it would go sitting in-front of a computer all day and how can you possibly feel the spirit alone in your basement? And the answer is with the help of an awesome district! My schedule is pretty packed most days, our first class starts at 9:30 (after we’ve done personal and companionship study and our own language study) and we are in that class for 3 hours. Then, I have an hour and a half or so of break and then we have another class until about 5-5:30. And, after that class some days we have a workshop which is with a whole bunch of districts, and its always really cool to see how the spirit can interact through 3 different language barriers!
My companions name is Elder Hurst and he’s from Layton, we are the only elders in our district but that just means that the teachers never forget who my companion is. 😂 The sisters are all very very cool and have some of the most amazing insights. Its extremely cool to see how other people look at the same scripture and see it in a different light as you!
Our morning teacher is named Irmão Nicholas, and he’s super super fun to talk to and teaches really well. Our afternoon teacher is named Irmão Moroni, and even though his computer randomly cuts out and he has to rejoin the class, he always brings the spirit with him and is very very helpful in the language. He served his mission in Japan and learned the language there so his accent when he speaks English is a little Japanese, a little bit Brazilian and a little bit British. So, sometimes its hard to understand but I believe that the gift of tongues applies when you speak the same language too. When we go to the workshops, the teacher is named Irmão Pais, and I have never in my life met a happier man! You can look at him and just know he loves his job and loves what he does. He told a story about the importance of a good attitude and on his mission he had one companion who was very negative and it was hard to feel the spirit and be happy around him, and how that affected Irmão Pais’ transfer with him and the next companion told of how he was always so excited to be in Brazil with him and always had a good attitude and that was Pais’ favorite companion! So, have a good attitude and your problems won’t go away, but will be made easier and you will be happier for it.
I love you all and if you made it this far in my email…thanks I guess. There will be more next week after I've had a full week!

Love Elder McKee
