Darlan!
Hey everyone, I hope your all doing well!
This week was pretty good! We taught lots and lots of lessons but nobody wanted us to come back and teach more. But, it's alright because at least we are doing our part.
We did get a reference this week that someone wanted to learn more and when we texted him he said "I'm a Jehovahs Witness and I'd love to study the Bible with you" and we didn't really want to but we marked with him and he told us for the theme he wants to study “Who is God" so we studied with him. The problem is he was wanting to Bible bash (argue over over doctrine in the scriptures) and he started to give us "Bible tests" and then find a scripture that he though disagreed with what we were saying.
Which would have been interesting except this poor man never received the gift of the Holy Ghost after his baptism by the proper authority so he simply didn't understand the Bible and we were able to show him the true doctrine for every single point he brought up. It was interesting, but he hasn't tried to call us again since.
This week we also had a lesson with my friend Darlan! He owns a pizzaria and always makes us pizza when we go over. This Thursday we invited him to be baptized and he said yes!! We knelt down in his kitchen and prayed together to know if its the right path for him and he stood up and bore testimony to us about the Book of Mormon and the power of the priesthood and it was a very spiritual lesson. Even though we forgot to bless the pizza after all that...
Something I noticed in the scriptures that I thought was really really interesting this week is in Genesis 2:16-18
16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
I think its very very interesting that Adam was formed, given the commandments, and AFTER that Eve was formed! She never received that commandments from the mouth of God. We know that she knew the commandment not to eat the fruit but I just thought it was interesting that Adam was taught that before he was with her.
I love you all, Elder McKee
