Short Email
Hello everyone! So sorry I didn't write last week I ran out of time, and also didn't have too much to write about.
I also don't have much to write about this week because our mission right now has (I'm not sure exactly how many) a lot of missionaries with Covid, including President and Sister Oldham, and Elder Raposos got a little bit of a cold, so we have been quarantined for a little while. Don't worry tho I busted out the Nyquil and we will be good to go in no time.
Some really quick scriptures I read that I really liked pertains to dealing with temptation.
Roman's 12:21 says "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with Good"
A couple pages later in 1 Corinthians 10:13 it says "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."
Our temptations are meant to make us stronger, but not alone. We have a path out of the Evil, and it's through good! Lots of people overcome bad habits by replacing them with something else and it's the same idea talked about in Romans, but God (with his infinite wisdom and mercy) gives us the chance to overcome the evil with good!
My invitation for each of you this week is as you're trying to overcome the evils in each of your lives, replace the evil with something like serving, reading a chapter of your scriptures, calling and talking to a friend or family, or anything at all that will help you become a better person! I know it kinda sounds like it's hard but honestly, if you have time to give into your temptations you have time to call your mama or read your Book of Mormon.
I love you all! Sorry this email is a little lacking!
Elder McKee
